As citizens of the United States, voting and participating in elections is a fundamental part of being an active citizen. In the twenty first century we continue to see voter turnout stay stagnant. In the 2016 election, only 58% of eligible voters made it to the polls to cast their vote. This leaves 42% of the population without a voice in our national elections. Closing the gap is essential to ensuring equity of voice in our democracy. The young adult population of Colorado has been growing at a rapid rate where roughly one fifth of the state is represented by young adults aged 18-29. Additionally, approximately 46 percent of people aged 18- to 29-year showed up to vote in the 2016 national election. How might we increase voter turnout and participation among young adults during the 2020 presidential election?
